A peninsula of olive groves and coves
The Vasilikos peninsula stretches south-east from Argassi towards the tip of the island. There is no single resort centre. Instead, a road runs along the hills with tavernas, small shops and villas set among olive trees, and side roads lead down to beaches such as Porto Roma, Banana Beach, Dafni and Gerakas.
Building density is low and much of the land is still agricultural, so houses have space around them and many have wide views over the sea towards the Peloponnese or across Laganas Bay.
Why buyers choose Vasilikos
This is villa country. Private villas with a pool, a garden and a sea view are exactly what many visitors to Zakynthos look for, and Vasilikos offers that setting better than almost anywhere else on the island. Buyers who want a holiday home that is also a premium rental often start here.
Land is the other attraction. Larger plots with views are available, and for a buyer who wants to build a house or a small group of villas, the peninsula has a calm, natural setting that is hard to find closer to the busy resorts.
What to know before you buy
Parts of the Vasilikos coastline, including beaches such as Gerakas and Dafni, belong to the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, and building near them is tightly controlled. Inland, the rules depend on whether a plot is inside or outside the settlement plan and on its size and road access. These checks are essential here, and your lawyer and engineer handle them before any agreement.
You will need a car. Distances are short, but the peninsula is spread out and quiet in winter, when many tavernas close.
Who Vasilikos suits
Buyers looking for a private villa, investors in high-end holiday rentals, and anyone who wants nature and space rather than a resort street.
