One bay, two villages
Alykes and Alykanas sit side by side on a wide bay on the north-east coast. Alykes takes its name from the old salt pans (alykes in Greek) that still lie behind the beach. It has a small resort centre with tavernas, bars and shops. Alykanas, next to it, is smaller and quieter, with houses scattered among gardens and fields down to the sand.
The beach is long, sandy and gently sloping, and on clear days you can see Kefalonia across the water.
Why buyers choose Alykes & Alykanas
Value and the beach. Prices here are often more accessible than in the busiest southern resorts, while the beach is one of the best on the island. Small beach houses, family homes and plots within walking distance of the sea are typical, and many have room to extend.
Holiday demand comes mostly from families and couples who want a relaxed stay, which makes for calm, steady rentals.
What to know before you buy
The villages are further from Zakynthos Town than Tsilivi, so plan for a car. In winter the resort side is quiet. As always, check the settlement plan, building rights and access of each property, especially for plots near the beach and the salt pans.
Who Alykes & Alykanas suit
Families, buyers on a moderate budget who want to be near a great beach, and investors in relaxed family rentals.
